I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen. I am running because I care deeply about my hometown of Shrewsbury and I respectfully ask for your support and your vote on Tuesday, May 7th.
Shrewsbury is a great town, but we can make it an even better place for all residents to live, work and raise a family. Our town currently faces several challenges including budget constraints, the impact of continuing residential growth, on-going water issues and expanding the commercial tax base. If left unresolved, these issues could impede the long-term vibrancy of our town. I have the proven leadership skills, capabilities and experience to make an immediate impact toward solving these challenges.
I had the privilege of previously serving three terms on the Shrewsbury School Committee and as a member of the 2013 Fiscal Study Committee. I also have served as a Precinct 7 Town Meeting Member for more than 10 years. In these positions, I have demonstrated thoughtful leadership, commitment to hard work and the ability to work effectively with town officials to get things done.
As a corporate lawyer, I am in the business of problem solving. I listen to client needs and goals and communicate potential courses of action to achieve a successful outcome. My strong financial analytics background, comprehensive budgeting knowledge and practical business experience are valuable skills that will enable me to make an immediate impact as a member of the Board of Selectmen.
I am seeking election to the Board of Selectmen to focus on the following goals:
Maintain clear, concise and open communication with all Shrewsbury residents
Work with the Town Manager and other elected and appointed officials to establish and clearly articulate long-term goals and priorities for the town, including a flexible five-year budget plan
Increase economic development and the commercial tax base
Sustain on-going investment in public safety and infrastructure, including water and sewer systems and roads
Collaborate with adjacent communities to identify best practices and potential cost savings
Support the needs of our senior community
Advocate strongly for the continued excellence of our public schools
This will be a contested race and I need your help. Please consider supporting me by making a contribution to my campaign, allowing me to put a sign on your lawn, or volunteering to help me in one of the other ways suggested on the Join Us page. Most importantly, please support my campaign by voting for me on Tuesday, May 7th.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 508-517-2840, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
